Apple Watch Series 6 GPS significantly off

I've had my Apple Watch 6 for less than a year and the GPS has become increasingly inaccurate. Today I ran 12 laps on a quarter mile track (3 miles) which it measured as 2.72 miles. It was off consistently, each lap, each mile. I've run this same track before with more accurate calibration from this watch. Other recent runs I've done with other runners on other routes with both of us using Strava but with the other runner using a Garmin watch or iPhone for GPS showed a major discrepancy, with their GPS clearly more accurate than mine.

Is there a fix for this or do I just need to switch to a Garmin watch?
