Touch Bar sliders not working properly

After changing the zoom Accessability options, I noticed the slider for volume or brightness wasn't working as expected on the Touch Bar of my MacBook Pro 2016. I traced it back to "Enable Touch Bar zoom". When I unchecked that option, the unexpected behavior stopped.
