You don’t.


A competent thief would prefer to avoid being tracked, after all.


And an iPhone out of communications or out of power or damaged also cannot report its location.

FindMy requires the “cooperation”

of the phone user. (to basicslly leave the phone “on” all the time so you might find it after you’ve absent-mindedly set down somewhere)


A thief is THE definition of “non-cooperative.”


He/she WILL actively prevent you from using FindMy to locate them.


Follow the instructions below and “write off” that phone.

Additionally, be VERY wary of any messages purporting to be from Apple but needing your passcode/password to “confirm.”


This is a common scam to break into your phone or AppleID.


Also keep in mind that until you notify your carrier, they can also likely use YOUR SIM to place and receive calls and SMSs on YOUR number.
