AirDrop on new MBP is intermittent

We have a new MBP (bought Feb 2021), and once the machine has been on for more than a few hours and we go to send files to it via AirDrop (with the permission set to Everyone) it doesn't show up on either our iPhones, another Mac Mini or MBP.

We have to reset the new MBP and then it shows up, with no other changes.

Sometimes, during a transfer, it will fail and we have to restart it. Generally, AirDrop on the new MBP is much more unreliable than the 2013 MBP and other iOS & Mac devices we own.

What could be causing this or how can we fix this, aside from the obvious permission (and firewall) stuff?

Thanks.
