Unable to Activate -An update is required to activate your iphone

I am trying to restore the Iphone using iTunes, but after we continue the set up, it says Unable to Activate - An update is required to activate your iphone. It just gives option to Shutdown. There is no other option available. Tried both recovery and DFU mode, both options says the information to activate the iphone cannot be obtained and the progress just stalls there. Any pointer on where to look the issue will be helpful, thanks!

Please look at this --> If you can't activate your iPhone - Apple Support

If you are the owner or the owner has shared all information with you then to open Activation Lock:- If it is Activation locked, read here --> Turn off Activation Lock - Apple Support Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Learn how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.

If you are not the owner and do not have the Apple ID and Password then there is no way that you can get into this iPhone unless the original owner shares the Apple ID and password with you. If you are lucky you can get into this iPhone if they (owner) accidentally remove the device from their apple ID.

Hi!

I have followed the steps on the first article you linked (If you can't activate your iPhone - Apple Support) multiple times, I was getting the error message that says the "activation information was invalid" or "activation information could not be obtained from the device," and it said to use recovery mode to restore my iPhone, but it wasn't successful. I don't believe there was any Activation Lock on my phone and I didn't have to enter any passwords.

Went to Apple store and also talked to customer care, looks like this is a known issue with iPhone 7, look at this link - iPhone 7 Repair Program for "No Service" Issues - Apple Support But they are not honoring this because my Iphone sale happened 4+ years again and this applies only to less than 4 years iPhone. I am not sure but will try to take some steps to check why Apple will not entertain when this is a known issue in their product.
