How do I refresh an iPad that was previously owned by a deceased individual who left no information regarding use?

I have an older version of an iPad, possibly purchased 2012. 16GB, I don’t have any personal information that can open it up. How do I open the iPad to change the essential information to allow this to be a usable iPad
