upgrade OSX from el capitan to Big Sur on iMac 27inch late-2013

why does it say it cannot be installed even though the minimum version is 10.9 while i have 10.11.6 currently?

iMac 27″, OS X 10.11

The last version of Mac OS a vintage 2013 will run is 10.15.7, Catalina. To upgrade please click How to get old versions of macOS and read it VERY carefully before doing your upgrade(s). If you have a need for Big Sur, it is time to buy a newer Mac.
