The iPhone “iPhone” cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.

Trying to sync new iPhone 12 to 2015 Macbook 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 running Big Sur 11.5. I get this message:

"The iPhone “iPhone” cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."

The articles I'm seeing online are as old as from 2010. This is 2021. Anyone know how to fix this?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

Launch Image Capture with the iPhone connected and at the bottom left select No Application from the menu:

That should stop the error message.
