Apple TV 4K+ HomePod mini as speakers for all entertainment

I have the first generation Apple TV 4K (2017). I wanted to clarify whether I can use this device along with my HomePod mini to act as a sound system for all my entertainment needs.

I have a very up-to-date tv model and a ps5, am I able to use this Apple TV 4K + HomePod mini as speakers when I play games?

In order to do that you would need the 2nd gen 4K model, which utilizes the ARC/eArc feature

no, the appletv communicates with the homepod and the tv

the playstation communicates with the tv

the appletv and the playstation does not know of each others existence so the audio from the playstation is not fed into the appletv for it to be able to send it to the homepod

unless the playstation itself gets support for being a airplay 2 transmitter like the appletv is it will never work
