I have a year old MacBook Air 13.3 inches and would like trade it in for a gift card value towards my new Mac. Is there is a way of determining its value.

Go to the "Select your device to get a trade-in estimate without a purchase." section of Apple Trade In - Apple

Also note that in addition to the Gift Card option, you can arrange a trade for credit against your purchase while doing the purchase of the new device.
