My Finder shows files in the current directory and all sub-directories. I would like it only to show the current directory's files. How can I make it behave that way? (That is, like most Unix file listing programs, e.g., ls)
Finder offers four possible views when you open a new Window. Icon view (cmd+1), or list view (cmd+2) do not reveal files in a sub-directory unless you double-click a folder icon. Finder sits above the UNIX filesystem in macOS and only the Terminal application gains exposure to UNIX and UNIX tools.

How can I make Finder show me files in the current directory, but not show files in a sub-directory?
