Confusion over equipment needs for Spatial Audio

The Airpods 3 were announced yesterday, with specific callout to having Spatial Audio, as if it were new. I thought that my Airpods 2 also had Spatial Audio. This article seems to support that idea.

This article says all airpods have Spatial Audio. It also lists equipment needed to listen if you have an iPhone. If you are using Apple Music on Android, no special equipment list is needed, just a setting.

Can someone confirm that Airpods 2 supports Spatial Audio? The event yesterday inferred that Airpods 3 is introducing Spatial Audio.

I believe that the AirPods 2 do support spatial audio, but do not support dynamic head tracking.
