iPhone Capacity and Usage

My iPhone is showing more space available than the iPhone’s 128gb capacity and I have thousands of pictures and videos on the phone! I didn’t do anything and the usage went from over 120gb to 5gb. Everything still seems to be on the phone but the storage figures are way off.

Hello DarthVader2021,

After reviewing your post, it seems like the iPhone is not showing you the amount of storage space used. Go to Settings > General > [Device] Storage. You should see a list of recommendations for optimizing your device's storage.

If you restart the device, does the storage space change?

If you make some space available does the amount of storage space used change?

To be more clear, the issue is that the iPhone is showing significantly less usage than what is actually on the phone. Today the phone showed usage of 0 of 128gb. Clearly this is wrong. The usage that the phone shows has been declining for days even though I have not deleted anything in that time. I have turned the phone off and restarted but the issue continues. Interestingly, the color-coded bar that shows usage continues to reflect the usage of documents and photos, despite the fact that the phone says 0 of 128gb.
