Can't get rid of the Mojave Installer on the bin.

I'm having an issue trying to delete this Mojave installer. I had previously downloaded it to make a USB installer for another computer. I am running 11.6.

If I put it in the trash and try to empty the trash, I get this error message: "The operation can’t be completed because the item “Install macOS Mojave.app” is in use."

I was not aware how I did engage it to start the Mojave install, and when I tried to stop it, seems it was too late.

Any simple to understand advice? I am not expert on computers and codes, or so on.

— Step to step would be appreciated - a lot!

Disable System Integrity Protection Temporarily

To disable SIP, do the following:

Restart your computer in Recovery mode.
Launch Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Run the command csrutil disable.
Restart your computer.

Empty the Trash

Enable System Integrity Protection

To reenable SIP, do the following:

Restart your computer in Recovery mode.
Launch Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Run the command csrutil enable.
Restart your computer.

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

If you cannot remove the Mojave installer by any other means, boot into Recovery, and launch the Terminal from the utility menu. Then in that Terminal window, replace the username with your own:

cd /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Users/username/.Trash
rm -rf ./Install\ macOS\ Mojave.app
ls
cd

The Mojave Installer should be gone, you can quit Terminal and restart your Mac.

I want to thank, first dialabrain, for the fast and easy instruction. I did as told, and seems to have done the trick.

— Only one Q. Did it delette ALL the items that were churning in the hidden places of my iMAC, or did it only delette the 'action/process' that was blocking the delettion from the bin?

Just curious, as I have heard that those things tend to mess with the internal workings of the system. And as told, I am not a tech only a user, creative, not that clever about the inner workings of my 'slave'.

I would like to thank too the other responders below - I'll keep all the advices, as one can never know when they can become handy.
