Can anyone tell me if it's possible to convert an image you've created on ipages into a jpeg/PNG file?

Select all elements of the image in Pages and from the Arrange panel, Group it. Then select that group image, and copy to the clipboard. Open Preview, and from the File menu, choose New from Clipboard. Preview then displays the 72 dpi PNG image which you can then save.

If you want a higher resolution image solution, then use the paid Affinity Designer, where you can create a 300 DPI vector image and save it directly to PNG with or without a transparent background. Affinity Designer has a full-featured free trial and is available in the Mac App Store, or from the Affinity site.
