I am currently unable to do the iOS 14.8.1 update on my iPhone 6s Plus, is there a reason as to why the update keeps failing?

Why is the iOS 14.8.1 update keeping failing on my iPhone 6s plus?

Your stats say you've got an IPhone 6, if that's true, then you can't go above 12.5.5.

Go to Settings > General > About and post what model you have.

If you've got a 6, then you can update to 12.5.5. If you have a 6S as you posted, then follow the directions below.


Can you post a screenshot of the whole screen, it could reveal why you aren't able to update.


Make sure you:

• Are using a WiFi connection (not a hotspot).

• Have an active cell service

• Have your battery charged at least 50%. Better yet, keep it plugged in during the update.

• Are not using a VPN connection.

• Do not have power save mode turned on.

• Do not have a beta version installed.

• You have at least 6 gigs of storage available.
