I just purchased a MBP M1 Max and my Samsung T5 and T7 drives are not connecting and the red light indicating that no connection is being made keeps turning on. Has anyone else had this problem?

After going through a whole bunch of trouble, I was able to dig up the USB-C cables that came with the SSD and now it works. I purchased 3rd party USB-C cables that worked fine on my old Intel Macs. I wonder if it is because the new M1 has thunderbolt 4 whereas the older machines had TB 3 and USB with adapter.

I double checked and I was using Apple Thunderbolt 3/USB-C cables which did NOT work with the Samsung SSDs, however the cable which came with the Samsung SSD DID work. The MBP I purchased comes with Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 and not USB C, so now I have to purchase all new cables.
I have several T7s and they all work poorly if at all with the non Samsung cables.
The Samsung cables allow for nearly published speeds with the USB-C connections: 1020-1030 MBps last I checked, and around 550 MBps with the USB-A type cables..
That’s very good to know. I was able to use Apple USB-C/TB3 cables without a problem until my recent M1 upgrade. I don’t think you can buy aftermarket cables that come with the T7s or the T5s. Unfortunately all but one of those cables have bent to the point that I can’t use them. I found cables that are made by Samsung but I don’t think they are the same ones that come with those particular SSD’s.
Did you try using disk utility to format the drives.
