Photos not importing on to network drive.

Trying to import photos from my DSLR camera to the network drive photo library in my mac, but the import just shows it importing but nothing happens, the Stop import button is visible. This was working until last year.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

You cannot have a Photos Library on a networked location. It needs to be on a directly connected (read USB/Thunderbolt) drive formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Having the Library in an inappropriate location can cause these sorts of issues, among others, as well as a significant risk of dataloss.
