Local Storage / iCloud

I have 2TB Storage on iCloud, and 1TB storage on local disk. I would like to specify that I have a minimum of say 100GB, always available on local storage, I can access the data on the iCloud when I need it (I also have local back-up-External Hard Drive- of all data on iCloud). I have already Optimised the storage ("Store in iCloud"), but somehow, the local drive is always "Full" (16 GB free). so if I have a big I wish to copy over, - my disk space is too little, and I am told to delete files to free up space, - what is the point of having a 2TB iCloud, if I need to keep the iCloud storage at the same size as my local drive??

(My apps I have installed - I use them all) - do you use unidentified apps ? are they compatible with Mac ?

Either reduce the 2TB storage to free 5GB ( downgrade the storage plan ) Downgrade or cancel your iCloud+ plan - Apple Support

Unchecking the box of iCloud Drive and desktops and documents box is avoided , you are keeping some documents in local drive rather than iCloud and if their data is massive it will occupy Macintosh HD space , few documents / files can be dragged and dropped to some locations Work with folders and files in iCloud Drive - Apple Support

Or do you know of a setting I could "Tick" to indicate the "Working" area required on SSD. - open disk utility using Mac spotlight , click on view and check mark show all devices .

iCloud storage and local drive storage can't be exactly the same , but can reduce the storage approximately .

Thank-you, much appreciated, but,

I do not wish to delete anything, (My apps I have installed - I use them all). I am quite happy if my iCloud has nearly 2TB on it, but I would like my local drive to have space open for working on (Photo mods; Web Page design; etc), but even with Optimise storage on, the data on the iCloud insists on being downloaded onto my iMac, even if I am not using it. It appears there is no way that I can prevent that from happening, except if I Partition the hard drive and use one portion for "Working" and have the other of data uploaded to iCloud, and optimise that??? Or do you know of a setting I could "Tick" to indicate the "Working" area required on SSD. Alternate is to permanently have an external SSD where we use working info.

Only issue there is that when my e-Mails come pouring in .... I have the same issue.
