Can a 21", 4k 2019 iMac be used as an extended monitor for a 24" M1 iMac?

I have the cables/adapters to connect the two computers, but in Display Settings I don't see the option to mirror or extend the screen through airplay.

Oddly, I can airplay/extend the screen from the 2019 to the M1, but I need to do the reverse.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

You cannot use Target Display Mode, however, you should be able to use AirPlay to Mac.

Upgrade both Mac computers macOS Monterey, How to upgrade to macOS Monterey - Apple Support, then attempt to use AirPlay to Mac from the 24" M1 iMac.

Cheers,

Jack
