App store won't let me download a Monterey installer to an old machine

I'm trying to troubleshoot a failed install of Monterey to my 2019 MB Air. I want to download Monterey to an old mac mini that I have and then create a bootable disk. The app store won't let me. How do I download a version without having the app store check whether it is installable on the machine that I'm temporarily using?

Thank you, Ben Chapman

For those in this situation, take a look at mrmacintosh.com. Thanks!

The best solution for those in this situation is Internet Recovery. I just did it a few minutes ago on an old computer I wanted to repurpose. Years ago I might have gone that old-school route you suggest, with another computer and a bootable installer. But the truth is, Internet Recovery did the job faster and easier.
