Passcode changed after softward update

My mom's iPhone SE performed a software update and now asks for a 6 digit passcode vs the 4 digit code she used before. Her phone is unusable at this point. How can she figure out the new passcode or reset it?

Updates never change passcodes. If the passcode changed, someone changed it. See this Apple support link→If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
