I’m helping my mother in law get into her iPhone and she doesn’t remember her passcode.

I’m helping my mother-in-law get into her phone - she just changed cell carriers - but she doesn’t remember her passcode. The info she has written down doesn’t open the phone and she never had to use it because her daughter turned off her security settings for convenience.

Please help:

HOw can you get into an iPhone w/o a password w/o losing all her data (contacts, Pokémon, etc)?
