My fall detection on my series 6 Apple Watch did not detect when myself and my horse were hit by a van and thrown to the floor yet regularly goes off if I bang my arm on a door walking through… this can’t be right?

Have you updated your Apple Watch to WatchOS 8.1? According to the release notes from Apple, this release introduced new Algorithms for Fall Detection.
Yes up to date as have it set to automatically, I just don’t think it’s very good that after such a severe incident it didn’t respond yet does at simple day to day things.
