My app store on apple tv does not refresh to allow search and installation of further apps. It stays with the first app I installed

After you installed (“Get” or “Buy” button) an app, use the Menu/Back (<) button to return to the page in the App Store app from before selecting an app. Then select/search for different apps.
If the issue persists, try this for any misbehaving pre-installed app:
