Restore document from word

How do restore an unsaved document from word? Ive tried autorecovery, time mashine. Nothing works

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

If the document was never saved to disk, then there is no restoring it.


Once you delete the draft in progress from Word's app window by closing the window or quitting the app, that draft is gone.

Any time you are working on an important document, you should ensure that you "Save" the document early in the draft stage to avoid this type of problem.


As I understand it, the auto-save feature automatically saves versions of a document as you work on it, the caveat being that you must initially Save and name that document when you begin your work.
