While in work, I use windows and write documents in Word. I save them on my external drive. Once I open the drive on my Mac, suddenly there aren't all of the documents there. Like, I saved 100 .doc or .docx files but Mac shows me just 70 or 80 of them. I have original Office for Mac and tried tuxedo but its not working.

As a test can you rename that one test.rtf ?
II saved a file called dopĺňací rozsudok - zamietnutie časti nároku prevyšujúceho priznaný výživné na plnoleté dieťa.rtf to my Documents, it cannot be found in the Finder, Terminal, or with Find Any File!???
Text Edit will load it from File>Open Recent.
Tying to view it in Terminal gives me...

2nd folder didn't work, there are still the same documents that won't show on Mac and yes, there are non-alphanumeric letters but I don't see that would make any difference. Some of them are shown on mac, some are not.
There has to be a character in that long name that throws the finder off.
Try shortening the name or using different parts to isolate the character causing it... I suspect character 301...

What Format is this external drive?
And if you put it back on the PC all 100 show?
On the PC can you create a 2nd folder & move half of the files to that for a retest on the Mac?
Oh, are there any non-alpha numeric letters in the Names?
Can you give a missing name or two here?
The only illegal character for file and folder names in Mac OS X is the colon ":"
File and folder names are not permitted to begin with a dot "."

What worked, all names now viewable or just one?
no, just that one but I'm excited about it, why changing name of the file suddenly shows the file on Mac??
