iMac 27” 2011 error

Hi

My 27-inch iMac 2011 stopped working, while I was playing. Then I booted it and it doesn’t start up anymore (after apple logo appeared, the screen is just white). I runned Apple hardware test and it says an error code: 4MEM/9/40000000: 0x883c5018.

What does this code mean?

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

If that doesn't help but were able to boot into the Safe Mode boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and reinstall the system.
