my airpods light isnt turning on and they have been charging for hours. i can't check the charging status either on iphone. what should i do ?

Note: when you plug in the AirPods case to charge, the light comes on for a few seconds, and then goes off, but the case is still charging:
If your AirPods won’t charge
In terms of the charge status, it can take awhile for it to come up. Try flipping open the cover of the charging case (with the AirPods inside) a few times. You can also view the charge status from the Daily View screen (swipe right from the first Home screen).
