My macbooks update is stuck.

I've been updating my Mac for a while now.. and this is at least my 5th try. Everytime I try it usually ends up at 12.13 our of 12.13 GB and then it shows nothing and just gets stuck. I checked the applications I have present and nothing there related to download Monterey, this is also the same for other updates and I have at least 62.23 GB free and available. This never happened when I upgraded from Mojave to Big Sur but now my Mac's acting up.

There are factors:

1 - Like poor Wifi connection

2 - Slow wifi connection

3 - Too many other people downloading at the same time and Apple Severs are overloaded

4 - Software on the computer interfering with the download process including AntiVirus Software

5 - Running behind a VPN which may increase Packet losses and cause a corrupted download.

6 - If via wifi too many Other devices using the wifi at the same time reducing the Bandwidth to your computer.

7 - Best Results are via Ethernet Cable to Router

8 - try doing the download from a Safe Boot

9 - patience and more patience are needed.

10 - make sure there is no new application in Applications folder called " Install Monterey " If there is, Drag and Drop to Trash and Empty Trash

1 - Empty Space Requirements  >> If upgrading from macOS Sierra or later, your Mac needs 26GB of available storage to upgrade. If upgrading from an earlier release, your Mac needs up to 44GB of available storage.

2 - Safe Boot method attempted as per above

3 - This method may seem unnecessary but sometimes the Router Restart clears Network issues from ISP to Apple Servers

1 - Shutdown Router.

2 - Shutdown computer and disconnect all External Drives.

3 - Restart Router. Connect to Router via Ethernet Cable. If via Wifi - Disconnect all other Devices using the Wifi - want the Maximum Bandwidth only for this computer.

4 - Restart computer in  Safe Mode. It does a Repair Disk, Clear System Cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and Fonts.

5 - Will load slowly - Normal. Once Logged in - open Apple Apps Store and  Get the Full Version of Monterey.

6 - It will take some time and several pauses will occur - normal. Countdown clock may say 15 minutes but in Real time may be 30 minutes. Same goes for clock at 10 minutes could be 20 minutes in Real time. Eventually , Full Installer will download and a New Application in Applications Folder will present called Install Monterey.

7 - Stop there and perform a Time Machine Backup.

8 - If desired - have an External Drive - Copy & Paste the Install Monterey Application to external drive for future usage - making a Bootable Installer.

9 - Now run the Installer.

I have found a way, which is to simply just, try your update again and again until it gets to a point, disconnect the power source if the Mac is overheating and to connect it back once it has cooled down. Close other applications that require internet and make sure other downloads aren't happening in the back. Hope this helps!
