Can't connect to wifi or receive cellular data

Unfortunately, I dropped my Iphone 12 Pro Max. on the floor. Now it wont connect to Wifi or receive cellular data. Long story short, I need to send off this broken Iphone to Verizon because of a promo I did. The promo was they would take $1000 off towards a new cell if I trade in my phone (broken or not). The problem is I can't factory reset this phone because I guess it needs to connect to the servers to do that. I basically can't do anything with this phone without connecting to the internet. Also, when I try to disable "find my iphone" on the phone itself, it just turns back on and gives me a message "verification failed". I already turned off the Find my iphone on icloud.com. The thing is one of the stips for the promo was that it can't be blocked by anything. I a, just trying to wipe everything off this phone. I even tried Itunes, and it says that I need to disable find myiphone before restoring it which I can't because of the reasons I mentioned above. Is there any other way that I can reset this phone to wipe everything from it ?

Just to add to this: its continuously searching for signal and I know there's physical damage done to whatever component is used to connect to the internet.

You will have to explain to them that apple security prevents you from removing the phone from activation lock.

I think even DFU requires connection to activation server.

Try it though

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPhone.

I’m happy to help!

First things first, you would need to disable activation lock for the iPhone. This can be done on the Find My app on another device signed in with your Apple ID, as well as online at icloud.com/find

To disable Activation Lock, you would need to remove the device from your Apple ID. You do not have to have access to this specific device in order to remove it from your Apple ID. As long as you can sign in with your Apple ID credentials you should be able to complete removing the activation lock:

Disabling Activation Lock: Find My App

Open the Find My app on another device signed into iCloud Settings with your Apple ID> click on Devices > click on the affected liPhone > Remove this Device.

If you do not see the option of Remove this Device, instead click on Erase Device >leave the area blank when it asks for a message and/or phone number and press next > confirm you want to erase the device.

Once you confirm, you should now have the option of Remove this Device. Confirm you want to remove the device from your Apple ID and the Find My network.

Once removed, activation lock has been disabled successfully.

Disabling Activation Lock: iCloud.com/find

Visit icloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple ID > click on Devices > click on the affected iPhone > tap Remove this Device.

Same as before, if you do not see the option to remove the device, select Erase Device to remove the activation lock.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.

I am not trying to “impersonate” anyone in terms of “style” or otherwise.

This is just how I communicate.

If you feel it aligns or is similar to someone, that is not my problem.

I also stick by my previous answer.

Why?

Because removing the device from Find My and the fact that it is nonfunctional has nothing to do with being able to remove/disable activation lock.

It can still be done.

How would anyone be able to remove their devices from the Find My network that were lost, stolen, required service, etc if something simple like that mattered…they just need to have access to their Apple ID in order to successfully complete the removal.

Hope this helps clarify why I was originally correct the first time!
