Possible to actually move photos out of the Library in the macOS Photo app?

I know that macOS and iOS allow the user to create as many "Albums" as they'd like. But really, placing a photo in an album just places a flag on that photo so that it will appear in that album when you click on that album. It does not remove it from the Library.

I like to keep all the general photos I keep in my library in this one place... the library. But... if, for example... I start dating a new girl, as I take new photos, or receive new photos of her, I would like to store those photos in a separate library just for photos of her.

This way... I don't have to scroll through hundreds of photos of her when I want to show my mom a photo of something from my general library. And if we brake up, I would love to be able to just delete that one library in one fail swoop.

And yes... I know that I could just create a new Album for her... and delete all the photos in that album. But the entire time I have this album of her photos... all those photos stiill appear in my "library".

Is there no way to remove photos from the "Library" in the Photos app?

Hold down the option key while opening photos. You'll have the option to create a new library. You can only have one system library connected to iCloud but you can create as many new libraries as you would like.
