all of my text messages did not get transferred

I transferred my text messages over to new iphone but the text messages stop at August...how do I get the phone to send all of the text messages?

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 14

If you turn on Messages in iCloud, your content is automatically made available on all devices that use the same Apple ID.

Wait a while for it to index and download all the messages to the new iPhone. Stay connected to the internet
