Where is my app’s data backed up?

I’m using an app on my old iPhone that allows me to document various things using photos. I’m about to get a new iPhone, so I’m wondering how to save all the data in the app. According to the sole entry in the app’s FAQ,:

“If you have an iCloud account, your data will automatically be backed up to iCloud. Just make sure to not delete the app. If you lose your phone or have to reset your phone, restoring from your iCloud backup should restore all your data.”

At the main level of iCloud Drive on my phone, I see the following folders: ArtText3, BBEdit, Downloads, GarageBand, Graphic (another app), Pages, Preview, QuickTime player, Shortcuts, and TextEdit. I do not see a folder specifically for the aforementioned app. Could the backups be elsewhere, or is the app’s FAQ mistaken?

What you are seeing under iCloud Drive can also be seen when you log in to https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/ using your Apple ID credentials.

There are many apps that store data under it. They are all encrypted and cannot be seen under iCloud Drive though they exist. One of the prime examples is WhatsApp chat history. You can not see it under iCloud Drive.

So be assured that your data is safely residing under iCloud Drive.

If you have deleted a part of data from the app same is removed from the iCloud Drive too when the next backup is taken.
