Old Apple Watch still saying it is connected to my Apple ID

Hi, I have sold my old Apple Watch Series 3. I have deleted it from my list of devices as shown when I log into my Apple ID online. However, the watch is still asking for my Apple ID password and won't let the new owner link it to her phone/Apple ID. I have looked at the following information:

... but since the watch is not listed as one of my devices, I don't know what to do next.

Does anyone have any advice?

Not entirely, no. I didn't read that step-by-step process but before I sold it I restored the watch to factory settings and then unpaired from my phone. I then deleted the watch from my Apple ID. The issue seems to be that the watch thinks it is linked with my Apple ID but my Apple ID doesn't think it is. Can you help? Can this be resolved remotely without me requesting the watch back?
