iPad malware message

I’ve just had a message bearing the Apple care symbol telling me that my Mac is infected with malware and that bank details are at risk and has a time countdown to act before permanent damage occurs. Is this message likely to be genuine or just a scam ??

Ignore it, and do not interact with it at all.. it’s a phishing attack hoping to play on your fears to get you to download something or divulge personal information. Apple would never send you a message with a timer to incite panic and fear. It’s fake, ignore it.
