No sound from external hardware

I have an Elektron Digitakt and Focusrite Scarlett 18i8

My first issue is that when I create an audio channel for the Digitakt there is no sound, meters on the 18i8 and in logic are lit up but the audio does not make it to the stereo output, if there is a delay effect on the drums I hear the tail of this when I stop play back

I am having the same issue running an audio channel out of output 3 on the 18i8 then back in to input 3 via some pedals. The meters are showing the audio going in but nothing makes it the stereo output in logic.

It works ok in Ableton so I’m pretty sure it’s a logic issue. Strangely it will work maybe 10% of the time but as soon as playback is stopped and started again it’s gone.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

From my experience with Elektron devices, setting them up properly can be a bit of a hassle. I'd say the same about Scarlett interfaces, though they are not as complicated.

Anyway, as in your case there are, at the very least, three pieces of complex hardware/software units all being connected together and expected to work in unison, could you provide more info and a few screenshots?

I mean, the Preferences > Audio tab and the project window with Inspector on and the problem audio track selected

And also a more detailed description of your setup: which cables go where exactly? And what is your goal with this setup, what are you trying to achieve?

Hi thanks for your reply. I will grab some screenshots when I get in.

The set up is fairly simple and has been working fine up until now. I bought the digitakt recently and that is connected to the Scarlett via inputs 1&2, I previously had a Roland TR8s connected exactly the same way with no issues whatsoever. One thing I didn’t mention is that when I hit record it will record the audio and then play it back ok, I just can’t hear it while it records (R and I buttons are active)

My setup is very basic at the moment - Digitakt > 18i8 inputs 1&2, no other hardware involved.

I have also taken a cable from output 3, via a pedal board and then back in to input 3, which is having the same issue.

I have tried achieving the same thing with both in Ableton, using exactly the same configuration, and it works fine. I have also used multiple synths/drum machines connected the same way in the past, again no issues whatsoever.

I contacted Elektron when I first got the Digitakt and they gave me latest drivers and went through various troubleshooting procedures and we concluded that it must be a Logic issue, now I’m having the same problem trying to record the pedal board I’d say we were correct.
