how to get access to my photos on apeture and iPhoto after update?

You can access your photos in the new Photos App, by opening the Photos App directly. As long as they are in the regular Pictures Folder, Photos should migrate them automatically the first time its opened.

If they are somewhere Photos can't find them, you will need to start Photos with the option key held down, and point it to the iPhotoLibrary.iphotolibrary file wherever it may be.


For Aperture, you can similarly point Photos app to the Aperture library location.


You will need to switch between libraries, as they will not be merged. Or manually export them from one library to a folder on your Mac and then import them onto the other library you wish to merge them into.
