Are you sure your new monitor uses VGA? That's such an old standard, and most monitors have transitioned to DisplayPort, Thunderbolt, or HDMI.

The monitor may have a VGA input for legacy purposes, but it's not likely to be the preferred way to connect this monitor.


That said, if you really want to use VGA, you'll need an adapter for it. The specific one depends on your actual Mac Model. Check this page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204149 for a list of Apple-branded options (although many may now be end-of-life, so you may need a third-party option.
