How do I upgrade my OS to 12.0 ? I have an older OS (10.0) What can I do?

First you tell us the sub-model of your MacBook Pro. Your upgrade possibilities are solely dependent on your sub-model. Without that, we can only guess and that seldom plays out well. Older Macs cannot run the latest macOS versions.


From your Apple menu, do "About this MAC..." to get something similar to this in OS 10.10:



Note that inside the red box I drew, the first line shows a screen size and a year. The year may have "Early, Mid, or Late attached. That is the critical information we need from you to give effective and accurate help.
