Taking notes on iBooks or eBooks (Kindle) on iPad

I like to take notes in the margins of physical books that I read. Can you do this on the iPad without using the Notes app or switching to a different app?

Hi jlipnack,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help with taking a note in the Books app.

This is possible. You will need to select the text in the Books app you want to create a note about. Here's how to select text on an iPad: Select, cut, copy, and paste text on iPad.

Your highlighted selection should have a menu over it with "Note". If you tap it, you can create a note on the selected text.

As far as how Kindle exactly handles this, you'd need to contact their support: How to contact an app developer.

Have a fantastic day!
