Issue with Now Playing in Mac Menu Bar - Monterey 12.2

I have a problem with the Now Playing control in the Menu Bar (iMac - Monterey 12.2). Most times when I click on Now Playing in the Menu Bar the bar showing the progress in the track will not have moved and the time playing/remaining are not displayed. If I click on Pause and then click on Play, it will be returned back to the way it should display.

I have tried restarting my iMac, have tried removing the Now Playing in Settings - restarted the iMac - and then put Now Playing back but nothing gets it fixed.

Any ideas/suggestions?

iMac 24″, macOS 12.2

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

THANKS!!! It seems to be working after I followed your instructions about Safe Mode, tested the issue and restarted the M1 iMac. Will keep fingers crossed that it keeps working. Was driving me nuts. Thanks again

Well, it started happening again - as soon as I switched from playing one album to another album. Tried restarting the Music app and it's doing it again. But thanks for trying.
