not hearing sound on macbook air

I'm not hearing sound coming out of my computer.

I have done the following From the Apple menu , choose System Preferences. Click Sound. Click the Output tab, then select the built-in speakers. If you don’t see built-in speakers as an option in the Output window....

But i can't see an option for in built speakers.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.3

Have you use external speakers lately? If so the external speaker plug could be jammed. Try reinserting the speaker plug a couple of times. Or if this is an intel MacBook Air do a SMC reset. Shut down, then hold Control -Option- Shift and power down for 10 seconds. Also Nvram reset. shut down and startup holding the Command -Option-P -R keys while starting up.
