Hello; I have just installed MAC OS Catalina on my MacBook Pro 9,2 and performed all the available updates. As I understand this is the latest version of MACOS that I can install on this machine. But when I download any app from the App Store I am told that I need to upgrade to MAC OS 11? Is MAC OS Catalina still supported by apple? If so why can I not get apps of the App Store anymore?

From what you say it seems the App is not compatible with your macOS 10.15.7 Catalina
So it is not for you...
If in doubt refer to the developers website; Support/Help/FAQ/known issues/compatibility:

If a more modern version is needed, AND you don't already have the right version of the App for your current MacOS installed, then The Mac App Store is supposed to offer you an older version, if supported.
If not you should contact support and tell them about it.

its not just 3rd party apps; Even apps from apple are not loading (keynote, pages, numbers etc). I keep getting the same notification to upgrade MACOS to anything greater than MACOS 11.
