iCloud Drive Error Opening File

For some files I have in iCloud Drive I can't open them from Finder on my mac mini.

They show error ā€˜The file <filename> couldnā€™t be openedā€™ when I try to open them.Ā  Ā

Trying to copy these files in Finder returns 'Finder cant complete the operation because some data cant be in ā€œfile nameā€ canā€™t be read or written (Error code -36)'.

cp command in Terminal returns Input/output error.

Disk Utility shows no errors.

Files arenā€™t locked.Ā  Permissions are Read/Write for my user.

I logged into iCloud in Safari to see if the file opens from there...and it's not thereā€¦, so somehow it only exists now on my mac mini.

It's a handful of files, in different folders.Ā  I donā€™t seeĀ  a pattern why it's happening to these files only.

Any ideas?

Hi faubs1,

ā€‹Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're having some issues with files in iCloud Drive, and we'd like to assist with this.

What format are these files?

Also, which specific folders are they located in on your Mac? For example, the Desktop, your Documents folder, or elsewhere?

Were they previously synced with any other type of services?

Let us know. These details will help work out a bit more about the issue.

Take care.
