Opening several files in Preview will not group in one window

My department recently got brand new imacs which use OS Monterey. We noticed that when we try to open several eps files using preview, they all open separately. Before we were able to open several files and they would show up under one Preview window instead. We even went to Preview preferences and clicked on "Open groups of files in the same window". That did not work. We tried "Open all files in one one window". That did not work either. Is there a way around this? It is much easier viewing different images by scrolling through one Preview window rather than clicking on multiple Preview windows.

In macOS Monterey, Preview will open multiple images in a single window allowing the use of the Contact Sheet view. WIth .eps, it converts them to a PDF item in separate windows which breaks the use of a Contact Sheet view. The .eps are not changed on the filesystem, only in Preview's windows.

This behavior of Preview is controlled by Apple and not user correctable. You can send feedback directly to the macOS product team, and request a future Preview provide this single window view for .eps. No Apple product teams participate in these public, user-supported communities, so feedback is the only supported communication method.
