Hi, I have a 2020 Mac Air and a 2011 iMac, am I able to use the iMac as a target display with the right cords?

Unfortunately, no since Target Display Mode is not supported by Mac computers newer than 2019 or using macOS Catalina or newer. See: Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support
