The usb drive has been re-named, but don't know if it is bootable. It contains a single file, "Install macOS High Sierra.app".
Here's the job stream displayed on the terminal app screen:

lthe attempt was on a 2017 imac running Sierra. The usb drive was name MyVolume -- I used that volume name because the original apple-supplied command script did. The drive was reinitialized by the command and was renamed and it now contains the single file mentioned above. However, the terminal job stream did not indicate that it was "blyessed" as bootable the way the example on the apple page showed. My question was--is this bootable? I need it to help upgrade a friend's's mac mini. If I don't get a suitable answer on this forum I guess I'll have to find an old high sierra compatible mac and try it out to find out.
Simple answer - at the End of the supplied Terminal Command supplied by several Contributors - did it finish with, abridged wording - " Successfully Created " or words to that effect ?
If No did not appear - Then " NO " not bootable
One what version of OS X / macOS was this attempted.
I used a modified version of the previously supplied Terminal Command two days ago to create High Sierra Bootable Installer on a High Sierra computer and it worked fine and Bootable
High Sierra macOS 10.13 via Terminal
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app --nointeraction
Notation from above command Untitled was the Name Given to the External Drive
All the above is predicated on the Full Version of High Sierra 10.13.6 from How to get old versions of macOS was download and appearing in the Applications Folder of the computer

PS - the drive something need to be Pre-Formatted HFS Journal with GUID Partition Map before allowing the CreateMedia terminal command to work best.
Update: nothing happened for almost half an hour but I left the drive connected and terminal.app running. This message then appeared on the job stream: Last login: Sun Mar 6 18:44:23 on ttys000

Were ALL conditions meet as in Full Version of High Sierra in present and located in Applications folder of said iMac 2017 running Sierra OS X 10.12.6?
As for " suitable answer " - as previous outlined and proven to work.
yes-- 10.12.6 Sierra and yes--, downloaded full version of high sierra install file in applications folder. Install version was put on the drive as indicated in my comment. Question is: will this drive be bootable since that part of the job stream script never appeared.
And this is after running this command?

No-- as shown in job stream earlier. Thanks though for a correct response. I just tried to boot from it on another computer and found it is not bootable. Will wipe the drive and try process again.
I'll check the GUID partition formatting. That could be it.
Terminal job stream stops after "Copying installer files to disk." Is drive bootable?
