doesn't automatically find wifi after 'erase all content and settings' have to connect by ethernet....?

I want to resell my MacBook purchased in 2020 - carried out an 'erase all content and settings' and now when trying to set it up again (as I wanted to check it worked okay :( ) it cannot see the wifi and I have to connect via ethernet cable (which I needed to buy and an adapter from apple) to enable it to pick up the wifi - is there a way to enable the laptop to just pick up wifi again when setting up the laptop from scratch?

You have to recreate the Wi-Fi network: Connect to the internet with your Mac - Apple Support


Connect to a Wi-Fi network

Click the Wi-Fi icon  in the menu bar, then choose a network from the menu. Before you can join the network, you might be asked to enter the network's password or agree to terms and conditions.

If you don't see the Wi-Fi icon  in the menu bar, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Network. Select Wi-Fi in the sidebar, then select ”Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar.” 

To connect to a Wi-Fi network that you know is hidden, choose Other Networks (or Join Other Network) from the Wi-Fi menu , then choose Other. Enter the requested network name, security, and password information.
