How do I login to my old MacBook Pro if I forgot my password?

How do I recover my password for my old MacBook Pro? I don’t remember the password. The MacBook Pro does not give me a reset password option. Is there a way to reset or login to my old MacBook Pro if it is a registered device on my Apple ID? I can see the computer under my apple id
